Dont Look Back
Design Goal:
1) A game that player just need to walk around to finish;
2) Creating a pacing curve for player to experience through audio and triggers.
Design Process:
I first determined a curve of tension for pacing, the major mechanics9players are not allowed to look backwards) and the type of experience(fear of unknown in circulating corridors) as well as the list of assets, scripts required. Then I started to execute the plan.
Narrative:
Players are a individual from a world written in a book, not being satisfied with what the author planned for their world, the player is on the way to the 3D world to do something to the author. The author was first contempt and then anger, frightened, threatening the player on its way. Most of the others from the player's original world are also frightened and want player to return because they fear if player fail they would be affording a worst outcome.
Problems Encountered:
1) Scripts for triggers and following footsteps, switching rooms as well as turning around was a lot for me as a beginner in coding, the experience is kind of flawed;
2) I planned for more for audio design but I couldn't produce the exact sounds I want nor control the spatial effect of them so that part is not to my satisfaction. The idea of sound bringing tension to create pacing but due to that I think the result is like 7/10.
3) When exporting the title page and the sound quality and the last few rooms shadow all got super weird, I just lost the last few rooms' soft shadow even though I tried to build for quite a few times.

omg they laugh at me rhythmically...
Turning the corner - so simple but effective! Very cool work
Very tricky, I couldn't get past the third corner. Really cool concept though, and the sounds are great!
love the audio design!
